Over the last 3 years South Milford AFC has taken massive steps with developing and expanding the club. We have developed our 2 pitches into 4 possibly 5, with a land reclamation project, have it’s first ever clubhouse and has a £16,400 Pitch Improvement Plan, which we are now moving with into the third season.

We would like to thank our supporters and funders who have been many, from Selby Council, our very own South Milford Parish Council and the football Foundation. Without their support this would not have been possible.

With all the changes there have been some hard decisions to make and challenging times, which have seen some differences of opinion. This being the case our Under 8’s and Under 11’s have unfortunately moved their teams to Monk Fryston to play. We want them to know that they are welcome back if they have a change of heart, after all this is their community.

Part of the land reclamation included drainage on the training facility which is situated on the Under 9-10’s pitch and Under 11-12’s pitch. This is floodlit so we can train all year around, and with the new drainage we will see more football played. Match Cancellation is massive throughout the Selby and Garforth Leagues, and if we can’t eradicate this we are certainly trying our best to do so.

We are currently in talks and looking at expanding the club not only with more junior teams, but ladies football, disability football and walking football. We would appreciate any support from any source who would like to take up a volunteering role, if this is to coach your child and a team of the same school age, or set up a team of your own to join the club with all the new prospects on offer. We will not only provide the necessary support but will fund all willing coaches to take the FA Level 1 course which is not only very rewarding but great fun.

Once the clubhouse is functional we will be looking at other activities to create a sporting hub. This was always the intention as we already have a fitness class using the land, which our Parish Council are also encouraging.
